Dr. McCarthy has been practicing small animal medicine in Texas, Arizona, and Colorado since 1990, most recently at the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. Dr. McCarthy received her BS in Chemistry from Sul Ross State University, and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University. In 2005, Dr. McCarthy also earned a Masters in Business Administration from Colorado State University. Dr. McCarthy serves on the board of directors, and is an active participant in ViDAS, a non-profit organization providing subsidized veterinary services to impoverished and underserved populations of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Dr. McCarthy is a member of several veterinary professional organizations, including the Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society, the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. McCarthy's medical interests include internal medicine, surgery, preventive medicine, and dentistry. Dr. McCarthy shares her home with three wonderful shelter finds: a Heeler mix named Emmy Lou, a Lab mix named Poppy and Dickie the cat, who thinks he's a dog. Dr. McCarthy enjoys water and snow sports, running events in the summer, and bluegrass music anytime.
Dr. Kerr was born and raised in Vermont and New Hampshire. She studied at the University of Vermont for her undergraduate degree before moving to Colorado to attend the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology. After working as a technician for several years, she decided to take her education to the next level and attended the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she received a full scholarship. Her clinical year was spent at the University of Florida. Dr. Kerr comes to us most recently from Northern Virginia where she practiced small animal medicine. Dr. Kerr's professional interests include dentistry, radiology, and soft tissue surgery. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys scuba diving, golfing, snowboarding, and spending time with her husband Rick.
Dr. Christina Petrandis grew up in Tallahassee, Florida and became interested in veterinary medicine at a young age. She furthered her interest by working as a technician at a small animal hospital and by accompanying equine veterinarians on ambulatory calls. For years, she enjoyed the thrill of Three Day Eventing, an equestrian sport that consists of dressage, cross-country and show jumping. In 2001, Christina moved to Colorado and has been hooked ever since! In 2004, she earned a B.S. degree in Equine Science from Colorado State University. In May of 2010, she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University. Professionally, Christina's interests include internal medicine, preventive medicine and medical acupuncture. She received her CVA (Certified Veterinary Medical Acupuncturist) from the Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians program, which is sponsored by Colorado State University, the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association, and the International Academy of Veterinary Medical Acupuncture. She is proud to be a graduate from this program, as it is the only comprehensively scientific acupuncture course available for veterinarians. Dr. Petrandis is a member of the Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society, the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. She also loves being a volunteer veterinarian for the Denver Dumb Friends League. In her free time, she can be found atop a horse, playing in the mountains, spending time with her friends or exploring another continent.
